Plot:

This 1954 film is about a playboy who becomes interested in the daughter of his family’s chauffer, after she comes back from Paris a beautiful and sophisticated woman. His serious older brother begins a bond with the chauffer’s daughter and soon falls for her as well. This film starred Audrey Hepburn, William Holden, and Humphrey Bogart.

Plot: 

 

George Eastman (played by Montgomery Clift) is a poor nephew of a rich industrialist. He arrives in town following a chance encounter with his uncle while working as a bellhop in a Chicago hotel. George's uncle invites him visit if he ever comes to town, and the ambitious young man takes advantage of the offer. Soon his uncle offers him an entry-level job within his company. While working in the factory he starts dating a fellow worker, Alice Tripp. She too is poor, as well as an inexperienced girl who idolizes him. 

 

George begins moving up the corporate ladder and his hard work catches the eye of his uncle who invites him to a party at his home. At the party George falls for a society girl, Angela Vickers. They quickly fall in love. When Alice announces she is pregnant and expects George to marry her, her puts her off. Remembering Alice couldn't swim, George devices a tragic plan to take Alice out for a boat ride. While they are out on the lake, Alice confesses her dreams about their happy future together with their child. George takes pity on her, and decides not to carry out the murderous plan. Alice tries to stand up on the boat causing it capsize and she drowns.  He later goes back to shore and pretends that nothing has happened. When her body is found, a murder investigation begins.
